Hi Guys, my name is Kai. I found a link in a German catfish forum to balikavi. I do not understand any Turkish, but I hope here are a few people arround who can help me. To read with an translation tool is very hard and not very funny... That thread made me come to you: http://www.balikavi.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24982 That fish is a reel mean machine, and as far as I could figure out catfish in the 100kg+ class get cought not too seldom in Turkey. My biggest one was 2,38m long, cought in Italy. Catfish in the 2,50m Class get cought in Italy, France and Spain also within the past few years. But the catfish picture in this forum is much more massive! I'd be really happy to get more details about the catfish population in your country, how are the regulations for freshwaterangling and so on. I recognized that here are some professional specimen carp hunters arround and maybe also catfishhunters? So, I hope to find turkish catfish hunters who like to share some informations with me, also by email if prefered. And maybe I can give you also some needful tips. Cheers, Kai
Dear Kai, Welcome to forum. Glad to meet you, my name is Caner. Personally, i haven't got any information about catfish (except freshwater fishers) Especially hunting sea bass and other species. As far as i know, Yakup ERDEM (he is a lecturer in Sinop University of Fishing Embroidery Technology) can help you about catfish, when he available online on this site. I hope you will get a lot of messages about catfish from freshwater users, who can speak your language. Sincerely.
Hello Kai ,welcome I am sorry but we don't have so many professionel catfish hunters. In Turkey there are a few big rivers and the basic source of trophy catfish are these rivers the fish as big as yours can be cought one in five years in here and it's not with the fishing rod
We don't take up seriously sporting fishery as Turkish peaople. Because of that, There are a few big Cat fishs in our freshwaters. At this picture, the Fish was caught by fishing net or worst as Erdem sad. Just visit www.carptr.com/forum , many carp anglers are there. They 'll be happy to help to you.
Thanks a lot for the freindly welcome here. As eozsoyeri wrote, there are just a few people fishing for catfish. That was the same some years ago in Germany. Now it becomes a hype like carpfishing 20 years ago and with that, new techniques coming up and much more fish got cought! I think that thread fits better to forum Tatlı SU Balık Avcılığı and I'm gona go to write there. Cheers, Kai
Yes Kai tatlısu balık avcılığı which means (freshwater fishing) is better place to put ur topic. As i know there are not many cat fish fishers in our forums, But i also want to say; Years ago 15-20 years in Sapanca river guys were catching 150-200 kilos of cat fishes with live duck, and they were getting the fish out by tractors, And 40-50 years ago i was told by my dad, that guys were catching cat fishes like 3 meters, as big as a boat at Eskişhir Porsuk creek But today i think ppl not letting the cat fishes to grow up alot, sure it is all our fault. The fishes that i see on ur pictures awesome , good job
Mfg
